Members saxcop2
I have a bolt on bass neck that is 34" scale. I dont like how long the neck is. Is it possible to change the neck to a shorter one without relocating the bridge?
Members t3ch
Any neck can be changed. It will just no longer be a 34" scale obviously, and as such you may need to put some different gauge strings on, as well as make adjustments to the bridge and/or truss rod. Members Death Hands
I think changing the scale changes bridge placement...

And you may need to move the bridge in order to set the intonation. It can be done without, but the likelihood of finding a shorter scale neck made for that bass is low. Custom? An older BC Rich I don't recognize?
Members saxcop2
I made it about 20yrs ago. or I should say I assembled it. The body is obviously a copy of a BC rich bass. I dont remember anything about the neck. Its neck heavy and overall a very heavy bass.
Members Jazz Ad
You can easily replace the neck but it will imply moving the bridge. Aftermarket short scale necks can be hard to come by.With no upper horn, it's likely neck heavy.
Members rpsands
All you really need to do is take the neck off and saw it down to the right size you want, then bolt it back on. No big deal, lots of us shorten our necks. JOKE.
