They are out there , I've seen'em

True.

2 of the 3 Fleas I had previous to this one had the LP MM pickup in it.

The Flea 5 I had had the Dimarzio (I think?) p'up which was modeled after the LP to the T. I didn't tell much difference they all sounded freaking sweet.

The Sabre was a Stingray with 2 pickups.

The Cutlass is the name of graphite necked Music Man instruments.

There are Stingray Cutlass and Sabre Cutlass.

If you can't find them at all, Status make direct replacement graphite necks for MM instruments.

Do you know how much those run (the necks)?

That may be a cheaper alternative.

Although it'd be cool to have an original late 70's model.

Sabre= 2 pickup, wood necked model

Cutlass= Stingray w/Graphite neck, one pup.

I passed up a Sabre a few years back, and still regret it
:(

I sold my Cutlass years ago. Wish I hadn't. My username would probably be different if I hadn't.

Cheap Status is an oxymoron.

Prices are on their site, roughly $400 for a neck.

Yeah I just didn't want to have to get a regular Stingray, then the neck, and it be more than the Cutlass itself. Wouldn't make a ton of sense.
