True that; +1

Each one of my basses has a voice and a character; gotta love 'em all.

I DON'T Have an SB-2; in 6-8 weeks that'll change,.

They are a one-off throwback instrument with, as you put it so well-

MAJOR COJONES

I can't wait to Blend the pups.

I've found that the jazz is mainly there to color the precision pickup. Still, it's a damn nice color. I'd do the stacked mod myself, with v/t, v/t.

An number of discerning SB-2 owners have done just that-It's a good mod.

I even asked once a while back if the Factory (G&L) would do that-they don't.

Think I'll get my eq from the (tube) rig I'll love playing the Bass thru...

Sorry to hear about your dad, man
:(

Hey Lou I totally appreciate that.

At least he's with me, at my home; he's not suffering, he's comfortable, and his passing will be peaceful. Plus he's had a long & productive life.

97-years old, Born 1912- They were delivering ICE by Horse-Wagon then, for real- He's told me.

He's been thru it- Dperession, D-DAY (lotta medals), Wife, Kids,-

It's been an enlightening and enriching experience caring for him this last year-and-a half; the last 3 weeks up until....Wow.

And I can tell you one thing- ONLY NOW- would he say to me, if he could, in his own way...:

"Hey Son- I hope you are REALLY digging that SB when you get it"

It's an awesome bass.

That is hot. I'm glad you ultimately made the right choice, even though I did not weigh in before the choice was made.

:thu:

Thanks-

I've come SO close to pulling the trigger on an SB-2 SO many times before....

This poll was pretty much superflous... (Big word)

Besides-

What ELSE are the HCBF peeps gonna say??

So, do you own it yet?

Well, let's see...

I ORDERED the instrument from my G&L Dealer of choice today; he tells me they are at 6-8 week build/delivery time. Maybe sooner, I hope.

I paid 1/2 the balance, so I guess I own 1/2 of the yet-to-be-built SB-2.

Can't very well plug that in though....

Kindness:

Good choice!

Can't really go wrong with a G&L Bass!!

bassman1956:

Or sooner! Another upside to the down Economy- The orders are not backed up.. My last Custom G&L, an ASAT (awesome!) took 4 months.

ModmanQ6:

Sounds like your dad really lived his life. Here's to what's left passing gently and lovingly... and nice score!

Thank you. That generation- there's so few left and they left mine & yours a better World through their sacrifices.

I Never got along too well with Dad- He pretty much always thought that the career path of an "Artist" (musician) was foolish- In his World and way of living it was.

But he made it possible for ME to have the freedom and the option to pursue it.

Through a sedated, morphine haze- Yesterday, for the first time EVER-

that I can recall- He TOLD me that he loved me...

Not that I didn't know it; not that he didn't show it- He did always-in spades. But he never actually SAID it. My Sis told me it was a "Guy" thing...

I was told by an end-of-life Specialist- an MD- what the process would be like- physically and mentally- at the end of life;

Don't want to down out the Forum, not my intent- Bass talkin' is.

But it's a remarkable thing in that passing is a part of the living process-

with reflections and reactions that foment...

Unless of course someone pops a cap in yo' azz and it's done right then and there... (Sorry-bad joke!)

But seriously- I value so much the time remaining- It's a perspective.

And I will get great joy as I do from any monster instrument, when that awesome SB arrives!:)

My custom was ordered in honor and memory of my parents, made possible by their generosity. With that in mind, may it be just the bass that you want to order, and may it be all of the machine you hoped for when it comes in!

And may you have all the grace required staying beside your father. That is an honor in itself!

Jesse Neil:

I glad you ordered exactly what you wanted. It's no fun settling for something that is almost what you want.

My sentiment exactly. I let go of instant gratification; 2-day free shipping of the one that was in stock, pictured on page 1, to order one the way I wanted it built... I can wait.

jonjohn:awesome

Again, my sentiment exactly! They are awesome instruments!

Thank You-

Very nice sentiment about your custom order- It IS an honor to see my Dad through- He's always been there for me, even when and especially when I did not deserve it.

Bassius:

yes...

hey you're back...can i have my strap?

I've BEEN back-

Yes, you can.

PM me and I'll get the process going.
