Seems like a good idea, but curious how they REALLY look and how simple they really are to put on. I have a beater guitar that I've been wanting to paint. This might be a cheaper/easier alternative. Members One Bad Monkey Posted December 21, 2009 Members Share Posted December 21, 2009 My initial thought is that applying them would be a pain in the butt. You're basically doing the same thing as wrapping a vehicle in adhesive vinyl (which I've done for many, many years); the flat areas really aren't the problem. Going around the major curves, while not getting creases and bubbles in the vinyl is going to be your biggest problem. Using a heat gun and lightly warming the material to help stretch it is the way to go, but then again, if you haven't done this type of thing before, you can also burn the vinyl that way too. My advice is to go to a sign shop in town, have them design something exactly how you want it, and have them install it themselves onto the bass body.
