Members zappolehgan
I was wondering what distortion pedal flea is using when he solos on "What is Soul" on Off the Map.. Its like a really thick distortion sound, almost with waves running through it... Im pretty sure its one pedal because he steps on it at the end to turn it off. it doesnt sound like the same pedal as "around the world"
Members -db
The only distortion pedal I've ever known Flea to use was the Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive. That's what he used on around the world, and that's what it sounds like to me, maybe just different settings and/or playing dynamics.
Members zappolehgan
is it possible hes using another effect to enhance the distortion? Because the distortion sounds somehow enhanced
Members Rezrover
Here's a picture of Flea's tour rig. The 2001 GK heads have a distortion channel in them, maybe that's what he used. You can buy GK Diesel Dog pedal which is based on that channel from GK directly.
Members lkngro
Why does he have 5 heads and 6 cabs?
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted June 25, 2010 CMS Author Share Posted June 25, 2010 Why does he have 5 heads and 6 cabs? Because GK is a sponsor. Oh, you mean seriously? Because he probably has 3 amps in use, and 2 spares. Not at all unusual for a touring rig.
