Considering these amp options...

To continue from my last thread, I'm still on the search for the right setup. I'm going for a combo or head/cab setup that can keep up in a small jam session but is smallish and affordable for me.

Right now, these are the options I'm considering locally (ALL items are USED):

GK 400RB (III?) for $175 (talked buyer down) - http://providence.craigslist.org/msg/2228023309.html

SWR Workingman's 2004 for $200 @ Daddy's (local Mom & Pop)

Fender Rumble 75 for $200 @ Daddy's

Ampeg BA 112 for $180 @ Guitar Center

Acoustic B200 for $200 @ Guitar Center

Here's some other stuff further away from me that's around the same price point:

Fender Rumble 60 for $150 - http://newlondon.craigslist.org/msg/2228438873.html

Peavey Basic 112 for $150 - http://newlondon.craigslist.org/msg/2220210168.html

GK 800RB for $300, I'd be looking at the Avatar 115 for $220 - http://worcester.craigslist.org/msg/2229939966.html

SWR Workingman's 4004 for $250 - http://worcester.craigslist.org/msg/2227311615.html

Lab Series 2x15 for $200 (kind of big) - http://hartford.craigslist.org/msg/2227731631.html

Non-working Bag End S-15D (curious) for $75 - http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/msg/2230837063.html

Old Fender Bassman SP3100 for $200 - http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/msg/2229865025.html

Any opinions? I hope you guys don't get sick of me asking for your thoughts. Please keep in mind that my (tiny) budget is around $200ish right now, and if I buy a head I probably won't be spending much more than that down the road on a cab. As always, I appreciate your advice.

I edited the post, but stupid me, I neglected to mention that they're all used.

I played a new BA112 at Daddy's, which looked different (maybe not as good?) than the used one at GC; I also played the Fender. Of the two, I liked the Ampeg more for its sound, though it has less options than the Fender. I thought the design is nicer, and it's more cubic in shape so it feels more compact. I would like to get the SWR hooked up so I can hear that next time, as I feel it would be better in the long-term than any of the combos. I should also try the BA112 at GC along with the Acoustic if I'm considering that. But I think any of the products I'm considering would suit me fine for now.

Yeah that's tough, because the 800RB seems like a better amp for the price than most if not all of everything else. But I don't know if I'd feel comfortable throwing out the $300 right away. I guess I'm ridiculously cheap - the most expensive item that I personally have purchased was my Fender 2x12 guitar combo for $150.

I'd get the 800RB, two amps in one with an adjustable crossover.

This is what I'd be looking at at well. FWIW, I have a GK 400 I bought used probably 25 years ago. I bought an old, used GK800 3 or so years ago, I haven't used either for a while, but I would still trust them to fire up and rock out if I wanted to.

Ever heard the expression - "buy once, cry once"??? By going cheap, you ofetn cost yourself more money in the long run - while putting up with inferior performance along the way...
