Members LateGreats
Today, I was recruited to front a cover band. Just some $ as a side project and a chance to hang out with some old friends. Anyway, their set list is pretty well steeped in rock and roll, and they wanted me to come up with ten songs to add to the set list. They hit all aspects of rock, from Stones and Crowes to 80's metal. Any suggestions for good songs? I'm looking for stuff that hasn't been overdone, but would get a good reaction. If they're real good, I'll buy you a beer at the first gig!

Probably won't play the big rooms, but that's not the point really. Just want to have fun, that's all. The other non-cover band thread had some really good ideas. The first time I heard Coheed and Combria, I thought that Geddy Lee was doing another comedic side project, like "The Great White North". Sorry to the fans, but give Geddy a helium enema, and you've got the vocals for C&C.

Members Roy Brooks
My advice is to learn some stuff that is a bit out of the ordinary. It seems that the band already plays alot of classic rock tunes already. Look for something a bit more obscure or least likely to be heard by the sort of band you are in, just to give the band some extra spice. Here are a few suggestions:Anything by the Meat Puppets or Butthole Surfers"Mexican Radio" by Wall Of VoodooMaybe something by Talking HeadsA sampling of early eighties Athens, GA "alternative" music from before the time REM became megastars- some Guadalcanal Diary, Love Tractor, Swimming Pool Qs, Fetchin BonesMaybe some country rock by New Riders Of The Purple Sage or Flying Burrito BrothersTry some instrumentals. You might be surprised what kind of reaction you might get if in the middle of a classic rock set you go into something like "Mr Moto" by the Belairs or the theme to Brokeback Mountain or King Of The Hill, maybe even some Link Wray.
