Members fling the poo Posted May 12, 2007 Members Share Posted May 12, 2007 when our band was finally wanting to play shows we didnt have any recordings or 7"s or anything yet. i had been working in clubs for years by that time and knew that no one listened to anything (there really isnt enough time except when cleaning or waiting for orders to show) so I took a bunch of tapes from a friend who was in a language program, wrote our band name and phone number on them and sent them out. on the follow up calls, out of 20 tapes only one club bothered to mention that the tape had no music on it but gave us a show anyways. the rest of the folks were all "yeah sounds great, you guys rock, you wanna play thursday night" :blah: i knew a band that wanted to play with bad religion or someone like that. they made a flyer with their name on it and passed it around. they showed up at the club with the flyer, showed it to the promoter and said "_____ told us we could play" and were allowed to open the show for 20 minutes or so. so what kinda sneaky non-traditional stuff have you done to get a gig?
