Members Chip Stewart
I'm thinking about buying a pedal tuner, and I'm trying to decide between the Boss TU-3 and the Korg Pitchblack. Both are +/- 1 cent and cost about $100. What are the strengths/weaknesses of the two? Any other ideas for a pedal tuner around $100? Thanks for any information you can provide. Members kurtisqpublic
BOth great tuners. Korg is technically a smidge more accurate than the Boss.
Members Ender_rpm
Is the TU3 out yet? I thought they just announced it @ NAMM? Edit- Guess they did. The Korg is true bypass, yeah? I can't tell if the TU3 is or if it is buffered like the 2.
Members georgestrings
The Korg is true bypass and is more accurate - no brainer, IMO... I'd also consider spending a little more and taking a look at the turbo tuner... - georgestrings
Members Checkingout
Both good tuners. I use the PB...because I really like the big bright display for my old man eyes. Oh, I should point out that I'm referring to the TU2 (Not 3) was not even aware of it.
Members ZombieCat
Another Pitch Black owner here and I love it, so easy to use and read. I have never used the Boss pedal so cannot give you a comparison on the two.
Members J.Paul
Haven't use the TU3 (I use the TU12)but I also have a Pitchblack.I like how you can program the different light sequences in the face of the Pitchblack according to your preference. Members Dancebass
One of my guitar players in colorblind and the Korg was a godsend for the guy!
Members gspointer
I am looking at the turbo-tuner, or the tc polytuner. (my peterson strobostomp died)
Members decayrate
I have a Boss tuner (I think it's the 2) and the Korg. The Korg feels more accurate and is true bypass, I would recommend it over the Boss. I believe it will power other pedals, just like the Boss one does, if that is a concern. Members easilyspooked
i have a pitchblack and i love it, easy to read, mad accurate. however if i had to call out a con, i'd note that i've found it takes time to warm up if it's been in a cold car getting to a show, it'll give me a few blank seconds up front before kicking in when i First turn it on. not a big deal, just worth noting. Members humancertainty
Also, one thing that may bother folks about the Korg....A guy I was on tour with bought one because he liked mine so much. He uses a daisy chain and for some reason, the daisy chain out didn't work on the Korg. I don't like those daisy chains, but I do know a lot of folks use them. But performance and accuracy-wise, it'll leave those Boss pedals in the dust. When you say daisy chain, are you referring to the guitar signal or the power out?
