I got the call last weekend.

 

Eight months I'd been with the core of this band (the other guitar and the bass player) and in a week they decide they need a keyboardist instead of me.

 

I know all of the "don't burn any bridges" stuff, but I was pissed. I burned a bridge, I think.

 

Unless he could construe "die in a fire" as slang for "have a nice day".

I got one of those when I auditioned for a Christian rock band. I was new to the area and looking for people who were around my age I could actually hang out with instead of the usual geezers I play with. I played with them three times and they only played the same 4 songs. At the first practice no one coul tell me the chords to the songs either because they didn't know the names. I called up one week after not hearing from the band leader to see about practice and got the news I was not what he was looking for. I was cool with it, but thinking "how are they ever going to find anyone when they can't even play any songs".
