I would be curious to see this as well. And a list of 35-40 cliche songs to see how much overlap there is. I love the variety myself.

Cliche songs are popular for a reason. Go to any major entertainment agency's website.. and just click the songlists of the bands that work most often.. the songs you see most often, those are the songs that are more than likely the A+ songs.

I know they are. Everyone plays them, and they work. For the life of me I will never understand Mustang Sally, but I'll be doggoned if it doesn't kill 100% of the time when I've seen it done. I actually agree with the point that some proven slam dunk crowd pleasers could help. They'll also be cliche. I would satirize one side of that coin or the other if I really could.

Here are the three sets our next client picked out of the 7 sets we offer for a private coming up.  We will probably get in 2 1/2 before our time is up.  Our DJ will spin a small set of current hits.

Age group on this one is 30-60.  As a matter of fact, most of our jobs meets this demographic.  If there are a majority of 20 somethings (rarely happens) then our DJ handles them.

Ok the only way I can rate these songs is if my band has covered them or is covering them... (or if I have seen them work/not work by other bands I consider our equals) The ones I never heard of, never heard covered or ones I never covered I deleted.

I'll grade them

A= works well all the time

B= Usually a good reaction

C= Filler

D= Bad Filler

F= BOMB

I would agree with your all of your grades.  One kinda made me smile and that was Roadhouse Blues.  You gave it a B+.  Although it was never in any of our setlists, last fall the groom came up to us during a break and wanted us to do a Doors song.  We huddled and came up with Roadhouse Blues (mainly because the singer didn't know all of the words to L.A. Women and we were in the sticks...no internet access).  So Roadhouse Blues it was.  Killed. We strung the song out and then went right into Rebel Yell.   And the dancers were not predominately Doors aged either.  I have had it in our songlists ever since and every time we play it, it goes over anywhere from good to great
