Photographing Yourself?

Well, not exactly yourself.  That'd be weird!  But, I like to take photos of my setup and a couple of shots from my perspective with the mic in shot at each gig.  The thing is, the camera I have is around 4-5 years old and the photos just don't have that crisp finish anymore.

Here's an example of what I mean:

Anyway, can anyone recommend a nice portable digital camera that would slip into my pocket and also take a pretty handy photo?  I'm looking at spending up to $200.

That's cool! I'll sometimes tak a pic of my setup or my guitar or something prior to a gig and post it with a twitter or facebook checkin. I just use my iPhone.

Slightly off topic but I'd love a little HD camcorder that I could mount near me to record my gigs.

Hi, I have tried to clean up  your image a bit but the problem is the lack of light being captured by your camera. this will always be a problem taking pics in gloomy places like churches or clubs etc.  the little built in flash on your camera is simply not up to the job and therefore you have to rely on the ISO (which increases the sensitivity of the sensor to light) which brings with it the problem of "noise" which you can see here as little dots and blemishes in the picture.

do a bit of research on line in respect of cameras that advertise reduced noise at high ISO that fall within  your price range and go for that. Pretty much anything by Canon or Fuji should do the trick for you

Cheers Steve
