The "Convertable Power Amplifier" is their trademarked term for power supply voltage versus current management scheme. Where it's known that a lower impedance (higher current, lower voltage) load will be driven, the power supply can be optimized by reducing the voltage but increasing the current capability. This reduces stress on the power stages (there is a class D rail tracking power supply in addition to a class AB power amp fed from the tracking rails, hence the class TD... tracking class D supply designator) and increases the ability to safely drive low impedance loads. It's one of the tricks used by the really big amplifiers to increase power density.

Now I have used this type of power supply configuration technology in some of my amp products going back to 1979 or so, and most recently in the current Genz Benz GBE-750 and 1200. Our trademarked term is "PowerFlex". It is a very effective way to increase both power density AND reliability with no downside.
