Members heatheroo
The horn on one of my bands PR15's is non-functioning. I pulled the input jack panel off to check the protection bulb and it's ok. So that leaves the x-over or the driver itself. I plan to disconnect the driver tonight and check the resistance with a DMM. What should I expect to get with a good driver? Thanks.
Members agedhorse
Approx 6 ohms (8 ohm driver) or ~12-14 ohms w/ a 16 ohm driver. I'll bet the voice coil is open (infinate).
Members heatheroo
Thanks. I'm figuring it has opened up too. Luckily, we're off for a couple weeks so I have time to order a replacement.
Members flanc
You could also touch the leads of a 9v battery to the + an - speaker leads to "thump" the speaker. If driver is not stuck, it will make a thumping noise as it opens and closes.
