Members sunburstbasser
I found this little baby the other day and I don't know where it came from. Of course, its mother came out to protect it.

Members sunburstbasser
Yeah, its a school-owned Yamaha Eb/D. We still don't have our piccolos in, but this will suffice for the semester. JM-I actually gave my Conn to my niece when she started playing trumpet! Members MarkZ
I've played one of those Yamaha 761 Eb/D trumpets at Chuck Levin's. The Eb side intonation wasn't great and the D side was even worse without a set of slides for the valves. Eb/D horns really need more than just a tuning slide to change keys. Glad I waited for the killer deal on my Schilke E3L. However, the larger sound of that Eb/D configuration (i.e. like a small Bb with long pipe/tuning slide) makes it a better choice for playing in an orchestra section, as long as it's in tune. For trumpet in D as an alternative to piccolo in A (ex. "And the Trumpet Shall Sound"), you want the lighter sound of the Schilke style instrument. Members sunburstbasser
This one is the model after the 761, I think its a 6810 or some such. Intonation is about on par with my C, but its a really stuffy and unresponsive horn. This is probably as much my inexperience as anything, but it seems that it could be better. I haven't tried the D slides yet.
