Members RANUI
Looking at buying some powered subs, looking at the specs, the PRX 718 seems to be a powered version of the SRX 718 while the PRX is the powered version of the MRX 518. How much better is the PRX 718, and I know that is subjective, Is anyone using the 718s and how do you like them. I have read that most people prefer the the SRX 718 over the MRX518, I assume the same applies to the powered versions

Members dcastar
You're not completely correct on the comparisons... there are subtle, yet important, differences. MRX518 has the 2044G - Single Voice Coil 4 ohm 18" WooferPRX518 has the 2044E - Single? Voice Coil 4 ohm - 18" WooferPRX718 has the 2268FF - Dual Voice Coil 8 ohm 18" Woofer SRX718 has the 2268H - Differential Drive (Dual Voice Coil) 8 ohm 18" Woofer - Shares the same cab as the VRX918VRX918 has the 2268FF - same driver as the PRX718, but same (smaller) cab as SRX + rigging points on the cab. As far as comparing just the PRX 518 to the 718, the 718 is far superior. What I'd REALLY like to see, is someone coming in and posting a real world A/B comparison the PRX718S vs the (SRX) VRX918SP's
Members agedhorse
I would say the difference is significant but I'm not sure it's that much better for many applications. In fact, 2 of the PRX-518's would be another alternate at similar money but would likely outperform the PRX-718 by a dB or two. Scalable too.
