Members heatheroo
Our aging geezer backs have decided to quit lugging our PA around and hire someone. We had a guy come out and do our gig last week and frankly, I was underwhelmed. He was using a powered Mackie mixer with 2 internal 250W amps to drive everything. The mains were 12" 2 way yamahas and we had to bring our own monitors. He had an outboard compressor and that was it. He had a lot of feedback problems and then the whole system overheated and shutdown during our second set. On the plus side , he was a nice kid and he charged us $125.00. The rest of the guys are inclined to give him another shot.......mostly because we have no one else to go to. Our PA consists of: Mackie DFX12Lexicon MX200 effects unitCrown XLS802D into (2) SP5s for the mainsPeavey CS800 into (4) Peavey 112 monitors we also have a yamaha MX124 mixer we use as a drum sub-mixer when we want to fully mike the drum kit and a set of PR15's if we need some extra oompf on the mains. It's not the biggest or the best but it works for us. Our minimum requirements are: (4) vocals(2) acoustic guitars(2) drum mikes Ideally, we like to mike the bass amp and (2) guitar amps and fully mike the drums We typically play in small/medium size bars.....say 75 to 150 people. Anybody in the Central/Upper Bucks, Eastern Montgomery County area who would work in the Thanks.
Members heath_eld
Have you considered paying someone to operate and load in/out your gear? It sounds a lot better than the gear your hired sound guy brought.

CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted November 12, 2009 CMS Author Share Posted November 12, 2009 I'm in the Boyertown area now, and might be available for either briefcase gigs at $150 or (for more $$) can supply a small JBL SR-X system. PM me with the location and date details if interested.
