Members sunburstbasser
It'll last for a month, then the slide will probably seize up without any real way of making it workable. At that price, you should be looking for a used Olds or Conn trombone from way back. 10x the quality at the same price. Most were built like tanks too (eg. Ambassador) and will still play well. Members soundministries
Check out this discussion on the TubeNet http://forums.chisham.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=28762 It is a review of sorts by a reputable repair guy from the mid-west. I haven't checked out these horns personally, but I trust his judgement. Again, the discussion/review is coming from the repair tech perspective rather than a dealer. Members saxdad1
I wouldn't buy one for my me or my kid. And I am a full time repair tech. as well. I wouldn't buy any of those horns at the big box stores. IMHO they are not up to my standards of playability right out of the box, and don't hold adjustments well enough to worth playing IMO. (you have to say in my opinion or these companies will sue you from what I have heard) Most shops won't work on them. I call them ISO's or instrument shaped objects, but again thats just my opinion. Members bluesixstring
I have had students that played on those horns (and the Starcaster guitar at Target) and they are awful. Plus, most repair shops, at least in my area, won't even repair them because they are so poorly made.
