Members Telecruiser
... such as the the leviton 5262 IGW? I have a chance to buy some of these cheap as I'm making up my own quad boxes. Why would you use these as opposed to the standard receptcle? Advantages/disadvantages?
Members agedhorse
The mechanical mounting yoke is seperate from the ground pin. They must be used in an isolated ground wiring configuration per the code and UL listing because incorrect wiring can lead to dangerous conditions. Ground pin and yoke must be connected together always, and in an isolated ground installation this is done by a seperate green wire ground to the ground pin IN ADDITION to bonding the yoke to the conduit ground system. This gives better control over ground noise PROVIDED the isolated ground system is properly designed. There is a lot of detail necessary in this kind of application and I see mistakes all the time that make the system ineffective or less effective. It's also used with power isolation transformer installations, where the ground pin goes to the derived ground and the yoke goes to the conduit system ground. Better off passing on them because you will not be able to use them in the correct configuration.

Members JohnMCA72
+ It's easy to spot them because their faces are orange, as opposed to white, beige, etc.
