Members heath_eld
Hey.. Now im not an expert on the technicalities of speakers so pls forgive me for not knowing the correct terms :-) You know the rubber rim around the driver on a speaker. In this case a 15 inch wharfedale sub? What is the term for it? What does it do? On my sub it is coming away. Tuheres no performance issue with the speaker it works fine. It looks a bit like it has stretched in a few parts. Is this a sign of a coming problem? The sub is about one year old, active and the limiters have always been respected. Members lifeloverwg
The circle that attaches the cone to the speaker frame is called the surround and is usually rubber or foam. If it's coming apart, I would expect it to start effecting performance at some point. Could be a bad glue job or a faulty surround. Take a good picture of it and post it here and you should get some better informed responses. Good luck, Winston.

Members agedhorse
The surround condition can be one clue into the internal health of the speaker. It depends.
