Members Nostalgia4Infinity
Alright as I embark on learning the recording arts - I have really started to try to 'listen' to productions. I am a huge Fleetwood Mac fan and as far as recordings (maybe it's the Neve thing going on) I just think there is some brilliance. I think the mix and production on Gypsy is absolutely perfect. From balance, guitar tone, vocal tone, even the added reverb at end. Sara is one of my favorite 'dreamy-textured' songs, but wow, the mastering level is low and the dynamics seem all over the place. Still I absolutely love the layers - and how in the world did they get that hammered dulcimer type sound? One song that annoys me a little is Hold Me. The gated snare seems over the top and the piano mixed too far back - IMO of course, but can't seem to argue with any of the kick drum tones... How are my ears? Any thoughts. Admittedly I am listening on 'casual' systems, have not really sat down with the 'ol reference monitors, etc.
