Members rhino55
For a Cajon? Maybe slightly off topic, but I figure you guys know wood. Plus, some of you are liable to have experience with them.

Well, Brazillian Rosewood for the box, of course, and Adirondack spruce for whatever you call the part that you hit (head?).Seriously, the ones that I've seen in music stores I haven't paid a lot of attention too, but I would think that a good strong box made out of 3/4 or so plywood built more or less like a speaker cabinet with a thinner plate for the percussive part (to me spruce would make sense but you would run the risk of splits). Is there any internal structure - braces or anything? I'll poke around my music shop next time I'm there.fwiw, back in the early '70's I built my speaker enclosures out of some lovely walnut plywood and they are still in use today. I think you could sit on top of them and tap out a beat....How about I ask over at the Musical Instrument Makers Forum?
Members Freeman Keller
I found this at MIMFhttp://www.mimf.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2313Even if it is slightly off topic, post a build thread. I think this is pretty cool.
