Members tcrewsman
Could someone please tell me what this think is on the back of the mic that the XLR plugs into? I am seeing a lot more national acts using these on wired mics and I have no clue what it is? Thanks,
Members Gregidon
Looks like an automatic switch to turn the mic on when it detects an object in front of it. This can help keep extra stage noise out of open mics, though I'm not sure I would feel comfortable as your gain before feedback gets less predicable. Edit: maybe one of these: http://www.optogate.com/index_opto_uk.html

You GBF would be fine if you set your levels with it open. -Dan.
