Members bebop603
If anybody cares,I think the reason that the MP9500 has been discontinued in the US is the change in the Yen/Dollar exchange rate that started in June. The Yen is much stronger against the dollar now, meaning exports don't pay as much for Kawai and Yamaha. See:http://www.forecasts.org/yen.htm Also explains why the P250 retail $ increased from $1800 to $2000 at the same time. Hopefully Kawai can come back in a year or two with a new model. That wooden action has to be expensive to make, but hopefully they can keep it. I'm loving my MP9000. I don't know why, but I really dig the "hump" in the case...reminds me of my old Rhodes suitcase. Makes me feel like I'm playing a real instrument. Hopefully they keep that in future models.
