Members Farmer Ted
Does anyone know what causes this, or how to fix it? On some occasions, I've noticed that whenever I release the sustain pedal, the keys automatically pop back up. But sometimes they get stuck regardless of whether I have the sustain pedal pressed or not.
Members GigMan
"Farmer Ted" - The key is, don't let your chickens run loose inside the soundboard of your 9' Steinway Grand - maybe they're laying eggs in there + that's what is making your keys stick... Members jhowser
1st: moisture problem. If the keys have ever gotten wet [spilled on], the wood keys can swell, then when it dries, it may have a slight warp. Also, there is a guide pin under the key that may have a felt insert. If that got wet, it would have swollen up and dried mishappen too. There are also a lot of mechanics to the function of a sustain pedal. I'd have it checked out by a reputable tuner/technician.
