Alto is ok, except for so many beginning players are on it...soprano - Yikes - it's one of the few instruments that get completely on my nerves...even played well. I sympathize with your feelings on sopranos, my ex-girlfriend was a huge fan of her soprano and insisted it was better than my tenor. If I found one that sounded like an octave-up tenor, that would be kickass. Unfortunately, they all have something different about them that I don't like.
