Hi!

I was asking myself how to obtain visual effects like those found in Windows Media Player or VLC media player for live use.

My main goal is to have my pc creating visual effects by the notes I play, so the audience would be pleased of something else than my crowded desktop (I play with my monitor facing the platea).

Hope something like this exists!

If not, I'll use media player playing something without audio (call this cheating :D)

You're looking for VJ software.

Loads of others:

(list is old though)

Also, Winamp (which is a lot better than Windows Media Player - better visualizations, too) has something called AVS where you can load other people's visualizations, and there's the MilkDrop plugin which kicks complete and utter ass.
