Members XeroStar33
How do you do those artificial harmonics and pinch harmonics and stuff. I hear them a lot in Smashing Pumpkins solos, and I was wondering how you do those. I love those squealy sounds.
Members bsman
For pinch harmonics, grab the string between your thumb and the pick and sort of pull the string rather than picking it. Works best if you use an amp setting with a fair amount of gain.

You should just choke up on the pick, such that your thumb brushes the string right after the pick.
Members SAF_Jon
One method that I use often and has become rather comfortable for me is to place my finger on the string and fret that I want to create the harmonic on and then pick and quickly release my finger. This essentially accomplishes what the other technique does, but with a bit different timbre and can be a little easier than the other. It all depends on whichever is more comfortable, or more appropriate.
Members JohnnyD
if you measure the distance between the bridge and the fret you are pressing, angle your pick right into the string and pick it at this exact point halfway between.
