Members Terje Posted January 7, 2003 Members Share Posted January 7, 2003 I used to have a very nervous sounding vibrato. It still can come out that way if I'm not careful. But here are some things that I've worked on. * Play slide without vibrato for a while. This way you learn how to control it better. * Let the note ring a little before adding vibrato. That often sounds better. * Watch out for any unwanted tension. Let the vibrato be totally relaxed. * Vibrato from the pitch and down. This is really important, sounds much more musical than around the pitch. And with a slide it's easy to do. You can let it be as wide as a half-step if you do like this. * Don't forget that a lot of blues vibrato is really tense too.
