Members Alldowntheline
Hi there, I am curious about where people recomend placing an envelope filter (Mutron) in their chain of effects. For instance, I can't imagine it making sense to place it after a compressor. Where do you place it in your chain, and what else do you have around it? Thanks. Members Brian Marshall
pretty much first usually for most filters.
Members IndofunkCity
First. Well, second after my wah, but I never run them both at the same time.

Members Verne Andru
Second to last - the last is a post-FX boost - but then I use a Pig with a trigger input. First thing I do is split the signal running a clean line straight to the Pig's trigger in and the other through the FX chain then the Pig's input. That way I get all the clean dynamics of the playing pushing the envelope on the FX'd tone. Works like a hot-damn.
Members ugly steeple fear
Hust did a recording with my analogue filter after messing with placement all afternoon. I concur that it sounds best before any OD and compression. But don't limit yourself to that. Play around.
Members andreas
I run mine (DOD FX25) after the dirt section, as I found that I liked the od->filter sound better. I do run my wah first in line, though, so placing the envelope filter after the od broadens the number of available sounds. Although the placement isn't really an issue for me - 99% of the times I use it, it's the only pedal that's active... /Andreas

Members Fast Frets
Using the Maxon AF-9, I use it after the Barge Concepts BB-1 but before any other ODs or distortions. I like to use the BB-1's boost with a single coil and occasionally get some cool sounds with the BB-1's Tone B fuzz. Works for me . . . YMMV. :) :)
