Members stangme01
hmmm maybe thats why the SD-1 on the OD-20 sounds so much better than the pedal. So what does chaning the Diode (?) to an LED do to the sound, does that make it a different kind of distortion?
Members dmk
its meant to make the distortion more asymetrical. it seemed to add a slight octave effect. sounds a bit more like natural breakup to me.

Changing diodes types is sort of like changing preamp tubes. Different combinations sound differently, clip different, and have different response. bw
Members stangme01
okay thats it i'm buying a bad monkey and a SD-1, hell they are so cheap even combined cost less than a normal priced Boss pedal. Anyone think the SD-1 or OD-3 is a better choice? I just want a pedal to crisp up my channel 2 & 3 dirt, they sound awesome but i want some more edge without having to adjust my EQ every time when i want that sound. alo i heard the od-3 is supposed to be really awesome for a stock pedal
Members dmk
i think the sd1 is great for messing about with.its not really comlicated inside and just messing about with a few components can yield some nice results.experiment!
