Members PurpleStrat
SilverF#ck!!!!!! Not Geek USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone know what pedal is being used for the lone guitar part that kicks off that song? It sounds to sharp and metal like to be a Muff or any other fuzz that is usualy associated with the Pumkins. Sounds like a stright distortion pedal not fuzz. Anyone got any clue?

Members Tribute2Johnny
sounds like Butch Vig studio overdriven tracked muff....seriously though, I think it's just a 'darker' muff...

That sound has so much balls to it though I remember RR sounding kind of thin. MXR Distortion II maybe?
Members skr3ddy
It is a thinner tone than a Muff; more raw sounding. That's why I thought of Dist +; it's such a primitive, simple circuit. A single opamp gain stage with ge clipping diodes to ground.

Just read an old iterview in Guitar Player where he said their is no rack gear just old fuzz boxs on SD. Plus it just sounds pedalish.
Members Tribute2Johnny
SD was a mixed bag yo. that's the tone so many of us want to try to achieve. Kinda hard really. I don't have cash to lay down...I enjoy MCIS tone more me thinks really, so i'm ok with dark override/distortion...

Multi-tracking and Butch Vig, those are the keys to the kingdom right there.
