Members r33k
If you have the system to run Real Guitar, it's a hoot to play. A resource hog, but worth it for the amazingly realistic acoustic guitar parts you can play.

Members The Pro
I still think that Colossus is one of the best investments I've made in VST's. I keep going back to it for certain basic sounds, specifically the guitars and pianos. I also love the orchestral sounds. I don't think I've heard a better acoustic guitar VST than Colossus. Not cheap but it's a nice collection you won't outgrow anytime soon, and it's a good value versus throwing $100 here and there for individual sounds. Members Silent Heart
Maybe there are individual samples in libraries that sound better, but nothing even comes close to RealGuitar's playability. That having been said, I find that even RealGuitar doesn't sound "real" enough for anything but the simplest acoustic guitar parts.
Members r33k
Fully agreed. It's revolutionary to be able to get that kind of playability from a keyboard, but it still ain't no guitar.
Members HairyScaryMark
RealGuitar is quite amazing and also a bit scary. It isn't really convincing beyond simple guitar parts but in a 'busy' track it could easily be convicning. I am a first study guitar student. I think I better become a much better keyboard player so I still have work when synths become more identical to real instruments, soundwise. Wait 5-10 years and keyboards might sound more realistic than the real thing on many instruments. I guess arguably some of the existing synths are 98% realistic, soundwise.
