Members gr8fuldodd Posted July 2, 2006 Members Share Posted July 2, 2006 As this story of the NY Times being raked over the coals by the govt. goes on, I keep hearing the same thing over and over again. That is that we are in a time of war. I agree that there is a war going on. But this is obviously different from the declared wars of the 20th century. My point is, if the govt. feels that it should not be questioned during a time of war, how are we ever going to decide that the war is over. Since there is no country to surrender, can the war ever end? Terrorism will never end. We can only take measures to protect ourselves. So I ask again, what are the goals and benchmarks that would ever lead us to say that the "war" (I'm assuming against the terrorists and not Iraq) is over?
