Members killing machine
What fuzz did Eric Clapton use on Wheels of fire? (and Disraeli gears?) Tone Bender? Which one? Two- or three-knob version?

Members StompboxMan
In a Rolling Stone Interview with Eric Clapton in the late 60's he mentioned he had a preamp wired directly to the input jack of his Marshall. Could it be the same preamp in his Eric Clapton Stratocaster?
Members AbbeSauniere
Sounds like a Vox Tonebender or one of the few MKII Tonebenders that were made with 2 transistors as opposed to 3. The spikier, fuzzier moments on Disraeli Gears sounds like guitar straight into the board to me though. It's a debate that will go on till the end of time! Someone on the Vintage Amps Forum is convinced that Clapton used a Rangemaster well into his days with Cream, in addition to the Mayall days. It's been rumored that Clapton also used a Supa Fuzz or a MKII Tonebender live while recording for the BBC, where the volume of a cranked Marshall would be an issue. Members DylanWilde
I always thought he used a Fuzz Face into cranked Marshalls. . .

As a fact, Eric Clapton gave a Strat to Ritchie Blackmore too - the black one he used alot in the early 70's.
Members AbbeSauniere
Just listened to WOF again today and he's definitely going into the board for those tones. Maybe driving it with a Rangemaster or Tonebender.
