Members wednesdaysworse
My Clark Gainster (2005) has a socket for the IC Op Amp chip. It came with a JRC072BD chip (very good). Has anyone experimented with other Op Amp chips in th Gainster? I recently put a OPA2134A in my Blue Boy Deluxe with excellent results (replaced JRC4558D).Is this JRC072BD the same chip as the TL072?Any help appreciated. Members Stoney Stomp
I put an LM1458 in my Timmy and I absolutely love it. Rounds out the tone ever so slightly. Not sure how it would sound in the Gainster but for .50, its worth a shot

Yeah..I'm pretty sure that's how chips work you've got daul 741 types (MXR dist+) 1458 (another name for daul 741 I think) 4558 (t00b screamer) and 072 types (marshall gov'nuh) those are in chronological order...with each chip getting "better" at least from a hi-fi point of view. But who knows, the lm308 is a {censored}ty chip but it's revered

Members wednesdaysworse
Hey Rev, it takes 2 minutes to change chips - cheap thrills. Sometimes a different chip sounds better with single coils, different amp, etc. Changing chips is a lot cheaper than horse-trading pedals. Original Gainster is awesome. I'm not sure newer ones use same chip. Anyone know?
