I'm looking for suggestions for a vst sampled guitar package (or modelled). Not sure what's out there. Searching the web I'm not finding much but I'm thinking there must be some decent packages. Any recommendations?

I don't know too much about NI Guitar Rig. Maybe it takes MIDI in?

NI Guitar Rig is an amp sim/effx package for guitars. There are no guitar samples there.

(1) Sampled Guitars: You may try RealGuitar for acoustic sounds. There are many great 3rd party samples for Kontakt2, Reason...etc. Look in this list:

(2) Physical models: There are very few of these. Free good ones, String Thing 1,2, Pling. Look for them on the KVR audio plugin database.

For commercial ones, Tassman4 has maybe the best modelled guitars to my ears. There are some Reaktor ensembles that does a good job too.

What type of package? Acoustic or electric? Individual sampled notes or pattern playback based?

If I was going to do some guitar voices on keyboard. Being a guitar player and knowing "guitar" doesnt work well on synths as something to emulate, would use something like "Alien Guitars" 1 or 2 by BigFish audio if was gonna do guitar samples on keys.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have downloaded a demo of Real Guitars in the past and thought it was pretty cool for the acoustics. What I was looking for was something with high quality individual note samples (electric and acoustic) and maybe some riffs. I am trying to update / replace the Hans Zimmer samples I've used on my Kurz for years and thought there may be something similar out there only with much larger sample sizes in VST. I'll check out the products suggested. Thanks!
