Members Noise...
I have a Phase90 that I find pretty average. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it's *just* a phaser. Are there any mods to do on it to let it get a bit crazier?
Members Noise...
Bump. Anyone? I also for got to add that my Phase90 is just the normal M-101 reissue. It's completely unmodded. What are the best things to do to make it a better pedal?
Members p90teleman
does your have a volume boost too?
Members Noise...
If it does, it's not enough to really bother me. It clips a bit when I strum to hard, which definitely gets annoying. Is the R28 mod the right thing to do to fix the clipping? Will it make the Phase 90 more subtle? Members Noise...
I did - quite a few times, actually. None really explain just what it sounds like. The few clips I've heard aren't anything mroe than basic phaser sounds - they don't show the full range of tones. I'm debating whether or not to just do it. *shrug*
Members L6Sguy
the R28/c12,c13 mods will make it a bit smoother/less crunchy, but its still the same pedal for all intents and purposes.
Members slash81291
How does one go about to mod a block to a script? is this the r28 mod more or less? Is it worth it to either sell the block for a script, or just do the r28?

Members OldCrankyDouche
All 3. I did it. Sounded good. Someone here has it now, and claims its great.
Members Noise...
All 3. I did it. Sounded good. Someone here has it now, and claims its great. I just clip them out, right? No soldering anything or bridging? Removing all three basically reverts it to being a Script Phase90, right? Did you notice any difference in the intensity of the phase after the mod? Did you need to mess with the trimpot?

Members Noise...
http://www.erikhansen.net/?page_id=31 And clipping these three things off WON'T interupt the curcuit at all? Just smooth the tone and make it a bit more transparent?
Members L6Sguy
i'm going strictly on hearsay here. been following the p90 for years here now, but i'm pretty much a ross & dod guy myself
Members Noise...
Bah...I'm nervous that I'll seriously mess the pedal up if I go through with clipping the capacitors... I know they could be fixed with a soldering iron, but I don't have one, so it kind of makes it risky for me....

Members Noise...
That's what I'll do then... Although...adjusting the trimpot can't hurt anything, can it?
Members L6Sguy
always mark it first. iirc, its a depth/strength control. but again, i've never been under the hood of a p90. i dont even play that guy on a forum. ;v)
Members Noise...
Yeah..I just read that messing with it can completely remove the phase...and that's not something I want to mess with right now. I'll wait for more replies before I clip anything...better to be safe than sorry...

Members L6Sguy
you seem to really wanna get into the modding/etc thing. might as well get youself an iron and some solder, and solicit some diy suggestions (either here or another thread). the byoc kits, now with the confidence booster as a demo seems like a great way to kill several birds with one stone:

I have for a while now. I may just have to order a few to give it a try. I need some effects, and pretty much anything can be undone if I place something incorrectly, so I don't see why I couldn't do it. They come with detailed instructions, right? Members mookieunit
All 3. I did it. Sounded good. Someone here has it now, and claims its great. I have Overwhelmed987's old Phase 90 pedal and it does sound good. He did the mods and there is no clipping when strumming or anything unpleasant like that. I don't know all the details of doing the mods but I recommend you do it if you find out how.
Members andreas
Definitely don't mess with the trimpot - if you get it out of whack, you will lose the phaser effect completely. Getting it back just so is a real pain in the a**... Here's a stock Reissue Phase 90 (first off, then on) - click - notice the gargled distortion going on with the pedal engaged. Here's the same pedal with R28 taken out - click /Andreas
