Any recommendations on products that do this well?

Also is it noticably beneficial to your sound?

Do you need a special box that converts high to low impedance to be first in your chain or can you just put a boss or moog pedal first...dont they convert high to low also?

These are generally just called buffers. Axess Electronics makes a great one. The VHT Valvulator is fine. Most clean boosters will do the trick - ZVex SHO, Catalinbread SCP, Xotic RC Booster, Keeley Katana, DOD FX10, etc.

keep in mind most people don't necessarily need a line driver, it's a matter of taste.

The Wobo is designed to be both. It's not just a boost pedal with an incidental buffer. I've got one and leave it bypassed permanently and it's perfect:

I've heard really good things about the Axess as well but think it's way overpriced for what it essentially is. But then we get screwed on carriage from Axess in the UK as well.
