Members HuskerDude
how does the electro voice compare to a shure beta87a and beta87c It kinda doesn't. It's a lot more similar to the SM-7. Traditionally used for broadcast, but a lot of people (myself included) like them on kicks, bass cabs, and vocals in the studio. This mic is also very nice because it has almost no proximity effect , which is what happens when you get real close to most dynamic mics, that is a dramatic bass increase that has to be attenuated at thew mixer or mic pre. the ev has next to none of this and can setup so you can sing vey close for quiet and pull out some for the loud stuff and it will still sound fat. great mic
