Members Crxsh
They want you to "stimulate the economy" by frivolously spending the money they send you. They want you to buy a new TV ... a new guitar ... whatever you're into. Spend the money and our economy will be sparked into growth. What they're secretly hoping is that you'll take your $1200 and put a down payment on a car or toward a house ... buy something huge that you'll be saddled with for a long time. It's a dumb idea that taxpayers like because it's "free" money. Talk to anyone who knows anything about economics .... and they'll tell you it's a terrible idea and will eventually be the demise of our debt-riddled country. Inflation is killing the States. Members profH20
It's actually not even close to free money...it's basically just giving people an advance on next year's refund. The way I read the plan, you get your $600 this summer, but then you won't get it from your April 2009 return. Sad but true. It's only free money if you made enough to pay taxes for this year, but won't make enough to pay taxes next year. Also, if you want to stimulate the economy, make sure you buy american made stuff...no MIM or MIJ guitars! That will just make things worse. Also, only hand painted or American Vexter Zvex's ! Too bad we have dip{censored}s in washington on both sides.
Members Furtive
I'm gonna spend mine on a jacuzzi suite for when a hottie from Mexico comes up to visit me this spring. Members Goominim
Read Link Here The package, which passed the Senate 81-16, will send rebate checks to 130 million Americans in amounts of $300 to $600 for people who have an income between $3,000 and $75,000, plus $300 per child. Couples earning up to $150,000 would get $1,200. The checks are an advance on next year's refunds, and most, if not all of the money, will be deducted from taxpayers' refunds in 12 months' time. I'm amazed and encouraged that people actually understand this is NOT free money. This is an advance on against money you may/may not get back on your tax returns in the future. The smart thing to do would be to put it toward any outstanding debt you have. An equally smart thing to do would be to stop incurring any more debt if at all possible. The way the bankruptcy laws have been rewritten, many people will find themselves in a very sad state as the economy continues to collapse. Absolutely not speaking of collapsing economies: how about that crazy internet outage in the mideast. Incredibly strange coincidence that it interferes with the upcoming Feb. 11 opening of Iran's non-US-dollar oil trading facility that. Please don't worry. Our economy will be just fine when no one is using dollars anymore.
