Members albiedamned
I currently have 6 pedals, with 2 more on order and plans to acquire a delay pedal. Here is what I have, listed alphabetically. Tell me what order you'd put them in and why. Members Fenderman1991
Sounds good to me.^ But comp before wah?
Members NITEFLY182
I doubt youd use them at the same time and thats an auto wah which is a little different. I always thought comps were a waste of time anyway but they belong up front so they get the best dynamic response from the guitar.
Members Fenderman1991
I'll have to test that out later...I put my AW-3 in front of my Dyna Comp... Ha
Members albiedamned
Someone said in another thread that putting the compressor right after the autowah makes sense to smooth out the volume change caused by the wah's filter closing. Members NITEFLY182
I guess. Its just generally silly to combine a pedal that kills dynamics with a pedal that requires dynamics.

Yes, that's why I always put it after. THe AW-3 can get shrill at the treble, I'm going to get an EXP pedal for it.
Members bisticles
TS-9 I arrange all of my pedals in alphabetical order so I can find them faster.
Members albiedamned
comp >> autowah >> fuzz >> vibe >> OD >> distortion >> chorus >> tremolo >> delay Question - why did you recommend putting the vibe after the fuzz but before the other two distortions? Members albiedamned
TS-9 I arrange all of my pedals in alphabetical order so I can find them faster. I suppose I could arrange them on the floor alphabetically, but connect them all to a patch bay so I can easily change them to any order I like. Members bowlingshirt
Technically, a wah doesn't alter dynamics. An envelope filter requires the dynamics of the player to open/close the filter.
Members albiedamned
An envelope filter requires the dynamics of the player to open/close the filter. That is correct. It detects your initial attack when hitting a new note, and opens up the filter. Then as your note decays, it gradually closes the filter. The natural decay of the note of course lowers the volume, but the simultaneous closing of the filter makes it seem even softer by removing the upper harmonics. I think this phenomenon is why a lot of people say their wah pedals (autowah or regular) introduce a volume drop. In theory, a compressor could help smooth out the perceived volume drop.
