So what kinds of effects go in the effets loop?

I picked up an amp with an effects loop and and have noticed the certain pedals don't really work in the effects loop...for example, my digitech delay seems to work the same regardless of location but my Sole-Mate Reverb doesn't work in the effects loop. Of course AFTER I played around with variations, I then looked at the instructions for my amp (Frenzel Deluxe Plus) and noticed the following note: Please note this is not for pedals. Pedals are designed for use on the inputs of amps.They are the wrong impedance and do not have the proper output voltage for driving a serial insertion type of effects loop.

 

So, what do you put in the effects loop?

delay

reverb

 

is what is usually suggested.

Rack effects. But there are plenty of people who use pedals in the loop, although I'm sure that some pedals will not like the line level signal.

eq, chorus, delay. is what i put in the loop

I put Modulation, Delay and Reverb in my efx loop and it sounds good to me.

 

Depends on the amp, I think. My old Yamaha T50's loop was just dreadful, I used to put everything in front.

It depends on specifications/levels but for the most part it's just a case of whatever you see fit.

 

I actually think the "effects post amp please" thing makes sense, but it just wouldn't work for some applications.
