Members Kyle_64 Posted July 12, 2008 Members Share Posted July 12, 2008 ive been watching alot on youtube recently about homemade talkboxes and they look pretty sweet. it seems that you can emulate the sound of a wah very easily as well as make you guitar "talk" making the talkbox much more versatile then a wah. so following that logic, why do ppl even own wahs? it may sound ignorant for asking, but i own a wah and building a talkbox looks pretty neat but then im afraid id never use my crybaby again does anyone know where im coming from or am i just an idiot? The only thing is that talkboxes are a real pain in the ass. You need a whole setup for it to pull it off live. What happens is that your signal from your guitar goes into the talkbox and that sound travels into your mouth where u shape the sound. It then comes out of a small preamp in the talkbox that is typically micced up and sent into a the PA system. Sounds a lot more annoying than a wah to me.
