Members nuke_diver
I like to play a lot of different styles. I've been using a AD30 to get most of the tones I need. I just got a V18 and stock it's not able to do all of the different tones I'd like out of an amp. But I love the tube sound so it's a keeper (probably will keep the AD30 but that does depend on what answers I can get here) So I need effects but the question is what is the best way to go. Basically I can cover tone from very clean through to moderate metal/classic rock (Sabbathish). I don't get into the really high gain stuff so much. Would an OD and distortion pedal be enough? Would one of those Multieffects boxes be better? Members anglerfish
With that amp, I would go boost, fuzz, and maybe a treble boost. You should be able to get all sorts of classic rock tones out of that combination! I'm of the opinion that OD is redundant with a tube amp, but many people disagree with me on that one... Members melx
what's a V18? I dunno if you are getting the sounds you want from the Orange, why the change?
Members nuke_diver
V18 is a crate V18 1-12 with EL84s (18Watts) AD30 is a Vox AD30Vt not a tube amp but a hybrid. Why did I get the crate..$150 new that's why Why do I think I need pedals, cause some sounds are hard to get out of it without it getting painfully loud and I'm thinking pedals would allow of a bit more control
