Members bassguppy
First, thanks for any of your input, opinions, and help.... I have little knowledge on what would be best to purchase for both live and recording for mainly sound effects (ex: bouncing spring, robots, ocean sounds, 60's sci-fi sounds). Maybe some single note keyboard parts. I'm a bass player/vocals in a kids music band so more towards what could be funnier sounds. For live I'm currently using an Alesis AirSynth but would like something more versatile as there are only 3 sounds on the AirSynth that I'm using. Sampling with sounds that could be triggered would seem like something that could be useful. I've read various threads on the Korg Kaoss K2 & K3 and the MicroKorg and am not sure if it's what I would need. I'm open to both touchpad and keys. As for price it would be great to keep it under $700-$800. Nothing I'm doing is complex at all as I'm not a keyboardist. thanks again!!!
Members Meatball Fulton
I think a loop sampler like the Roland SP-404 ($400) would fill the bill nicely, esp. since it's almost idiot proof to operate. You would have to buy a few sound effects CDs to sample from.

Members Tusks
The Kaoss is better for loops and for textures. SP404 is more what you need, based on your description.
Members bassguppy
I've been reading up quickly on the Sp-404 & it does seem like it's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the heads up.
