Members -groovatious-
Me, I'll keep working with unequal temperaments. More meat there. Yes, but if the meat's rotten?
Members pogo97
Yes, but if the meat's rotten? We'll call it cured. Interesting article on just tuning with lots of examples. (This is especially nice because most stuff on temperaments on the internet consists of endless boring tables of ratios.)
Members pogo97
Just for everybody's edification (including mine) here are four examples (C-F-G7-C) using Pianoteq's standard "Grand C2 Chamber" piano. equal_stock is the stock piano (moderate unison width, 2m length) in equal temperamentwmIII_stock is as above in Werkmeister III temperament equal_mod is the piano with unison width reduced to 0 and length increased to 10m in equal temperamentwmIII_mod is as above in Werkmeister III temperament
Members -groovatious-
That 3rd chord sounds NASTY with Werkmeister III tuning.
Members pogo97
As well it should. The tritone between the B and F is supposed to plead for resolution to C and E. That's the theoretical justification of the V7-I chord sequence.
Members MatteusNova
When I listened and voted, I was actually thinking a bit about the tuning, but discarded it rather quickly because I thought it was due to some chorus effect or so, and that people usually don't deal in alternate tunings. Funny, I was doing a short study on Bach's well Tempered klavier I & II. I was just explaining to people around me about the difference in tuning between countries in Europe at that time in history. 1660 - 1720 when the new tuning stated to come in effect.
