For $600, you can get a Spectral Audio Neptune2:

Very nice little 3-osc monosynth! Great sound, reasonable modulation...had one for a while and loved it. Also, you can use it as a MIDI-to-CV converter if you have any older non-MIDI gear.

Sizzlemeister has some recent posts about it with MP3s IIRC.

if you want an LP but can't afford it look for a moog rogue...

the price of moogs are pretty rediculous right now, but i still see rogues for under $600... if you're lucky even a prodigy.

DSI evolver.

if you're more adventurous, you can try some of the other mono Moog synths (rogue, prodigy, micromoog, etc.)

Velocity to filter cutoff (but not to amp) and no PWM, strangely enough

It honestly doesn't need PWM. It's a GREAT little synth - the more I use it the more I like it.

Who's selling Mono/Poly's for $600? I'd really like to know, wouldn't mind having that one back.

I fail at reading and was so excited about the neptune being $600, I thought we were all talking about the neptune.

Both of the analogs in this picture (and the aluminum stand) were purchased for $550.

I'd wager I'm in my studio too much for it to get robbed ... Plus, there's the security system and my beautiful and alluring but deadly vagina.

Anyway, I could point the thieves to other local setups I would plunder first (hello, Sizzle!)

But for your piece of mind and my security, MightyGTI, I won't post any more pics of my setup (well, until it changes significantly again ... )

The electrocution grid goes in next week ... !!!

Anyway ... Homeowner's insurance + burglary = NEW SETUP!

Don't forget regular dental checkups with your orthodontist for that....

Unfortunately, I'm one of the 30 million Americans who lack good vaginal insurance ...

But I do floss and rinse regularly with antiseptic ...

I'm running out of different angles from which to shoot my various synth configurations ... (I haven't duplicated yet ... )

... before you know it I'll have to resort to laying my synths down in the garden and taking shots like I've seen before ...

Just bought a Neptune 2 myself. I've been wanting to buy an analogue monosynth for ages now & this seemed like a good deal. Sounds great although I'm having a little trouble with my MIDI set-up. That's mainly because i don't know what the f**k I'm doing here. But I'll get there ;)

Akai AX-80,AX-60,AX-73, VX-90, possibly a VX-600 if you can find one

These synths will cost over $350 to buy. Is that cheap?

I would suggest a Korg DW-8000, Ensoniq ESQ-1 or Oberheim Matrix 6/1000 which can be had for around $150 to $300.

If you want a synth that sounds cheap, look no further than the Alesis Andromeda. :)

There's a new little phatty coming out. In the meanwhile save the extra 2-300$ and then catch a used on off ebay for 800-900$ (my guess)

Roland Alpha Juno or MKS-50. Super sound and super cheap (around 150 bucks/euros). Sound editing can be a bit of a bore, but for the price they are going for... Well... I think everyone should have one :)

My preference is silent alarms, Glocks and AR-15s.
