Members Enigmatic
http://yamahasynth.com/products/motifrackxs/index.html WHOA! Thats great news. I wonder how much it'll cost. Hopefully, the same as ES rack... Is the manual available anywhere? (Seems to lack performance mode..)
Members H-BOMB!!!
LOL... I thought this was going to be another one of those speculation threads. Interesting choice, to have the power associated with the volume knob. I bet it sounds fantastic.

Members Birdienumnum
Now that's interesting . . . only 70MB ROM and 32-tone poly BUT nice 88-keys and nice sounds, I hope for a low price . . . if the MO8 is $1600 then will this be $999? $1200? The LCD is decent sized for Yamaha and for a budget item, too. And they threw in some knobs (sometimes Yammy forgets about those, like with the S90). Members akliner
Is it replacing the S08?
Members orangefunk
what an odd concept with the MM8... that old Motif piano under the control of weighted keys doesn't inspire me... even the rhodes never felt quite right (great sound but dynamics/velocity switching was too obvious)... Members Birdienumnum
Is it replacing the S08? Absolutely, they're blowing out the S08 for $800 nowadays.
Members akliner
Absolutely, they're blowing out the S08 for $800 nowadays. Good...I always thought the S03 and S08 were pieces of {censored}...unworthy of their S30 and S80 lineages. That's awesome though that Yamaha is creating a graduated level into Motif territory. I don't really like the MM series, but I really love the MOs. I keep wanting to buy a MO8 to gig with so I can keep my Motif at home.
Members mildbill
Good...I always thought the S03 and S08 were pieces of {censored}...unworthy of their S30 and S80 lineages. ... . Agreed. But they never were meant to be replacements (I don't think so,anyways). Just another 'watering down'. The MM8 - even more so. I can't imagine anyone going for it, given what else is available. About the new rack - it looks pretty good. But that's another instance - no sampling/audio input for processing, no slots for plug-in boards, etc., etc. Given that it's a rack unit though, I imagine it might do well. If the price is right. It's probably for people who wanted something like a YPG-625 but less of a digital piano and more of a performance keyboard...like it's S90ES bigger brother. Members mildbill
I'm not really knocking Yamaha - I like the sound of their stuff. They do seem to make some odd choices sometimes though.
Members Meatball Fulton
Wonder why they didn't show these at NAMM...everyone was expecting an XS rack.
Members ElectricPuppy
My guess it they just weren't quite ready yet, maybe some last-minute software tweaks to make, most likely. I have a classic Motif Rack, it's not clear to me that this latest version is owrth upgrading for.

Members ElectricPuppy
I'd sell my Classic for, what, $500? Then I'd have to shell out another $500 for the XS, soooooo No, not worth it to me, I guess. but that's just me. Besides, maybe its 70MB of good stuff padded with 285MB of fart samples, who wants that?

Members Allerian
The kn0bbage is way cool, but unless the piano sound is better than the already-spectacular one in the MoRack classic, they can keep it. Now that I've had the Nord Wave for a while, the strings and horns in the Mo sound mighty "romplery" by comparision. Not bad mind you, but not like the stuff in the Wave. Members H-BOMB!!!
I'd sell my Classic for, what, $500? If you could even get $500... I'm with you. As cool as this looks, I'm still plenty happy with my MoRack Classic.
