Members suitandtieguy
what a {censored}ing snore. are they serious? 299 units of one doohickey and a new function from an existing button on the stage?

Members Roald
I don't se the problem? The SE is just a fun thing (though I would also prefer regular keys) celebrating a company who've done more innovations than all the japanese ones together, in the last few years. The absurd thing is that it seems nobody cares about synths as instruments with "their sound", everybody just wants more and more features. If you are a feature-hog, than Clavia stuff is not going to be your thing anyway. I think they did a fantastic job. Keyboard instruments that do just a couple of things, but they do them right. And simple. The Lead2 is still around in its original shape. Isn't that great? I mean, guitar players won't complain about "innovations" either, all the time.... Members suitandtieguy
if they hadn't have been all "whoo oooo we gots some new {censored} at the messe you should check it out it's gonna be hott!" and shown a photo of something under a blanket, and instead not said {censored} until this went up on their site, this would be exciting. Members Roald
True. But i do understand that they try to make the show as big as possible, as a small company. It's a nice touch that they add a cembalo to the samplesets. If they also add classic pipe organ sounds, they would possibly open a new market segment. I read the german "keyboards" magazine sometimes, and they do a new series about live performers. Basically everybody has at least one clavia instrument in their setup. Guess thats the only real market for hardware anyway.
Members raffor
Wow, 10 years of NL. I think I had a NL2 for 9 years, first in the form of a rack and then I traded up to a keyboard. I still think - when comparing to the other VA I own - that the NL2 has the best feature set and the best sound. It is quick to dial in something new and the niffty morph/velocity feature is just genius. I would call it the Jupiter of modern days...and now with reversed keybed. They should have gone with red keys instead of black ones though.
Members mildbill
I think it's a good sign, if it means that the NL2X will be around for a good while more. I'm still hoping to see a crumb or two for the G2 though.
Members MuzikB
Didn't someone mention on another thread about new Clavia products being just a Lead 2X with reversed keys? Still a great instrument.

Members dan88z
I think the reversed keys looks cool with the red base. Looks like some nice functionality on the stage too, with the mono piano option on the front panel and updated synth capability.
Members mate_stubb
As a Stage owner, I'm happier than {censored}. It has been a magnificent instrument to play onstage, but the pianos don't work for everybody, especially in a mono monitoring situation. They listened, they fixed it, and I can have it for free. Now I can also look at a new mega piano with pedal down samples - and I can have THAT for free too. The other improvements are straight from the Nord USA forum wish list. It ain't always about the new flash.

The 'swell as volume' is also very cool, since the first thing I do for every synth patch I use is create a volume morph using the expression pedal. Nice one, Clavia! I'm curious about the new wavetables... anybody found a list, yet? I can certainly see why people who don't own a Stage are underwhelmed... too bad
Members girevik
Props to Wout Blommers. He called it from the beginning (though he does have insider connections): "Special anniversary edition of Nord Lead"
Members pink floyd cramer
I am looking forward to being stunned by that new piano piano sound, if they can put some version of it in the Electro- no pedal-down samples necessary. I kind of doubt that will happen, though. Thinking I will wind up being a Stage owner.

Members Tuba Four
I am one of those people who like the Piano on the Stage, but in live situations, even in stereo, it tends to disappear. So, the announcement of a new piano sample is great. Maybe the mono mode will also help define the piano sound a bit better so that it sits better in a live mix!! We'll just have to wait and see (hear)! aL
Members mate_stubb
Also lost in the announcement was a notice that they are updating the sysex functionality, and the Manager client software, so that you can save presets, synth patches, whole banks, etc. So it will be easier to shuffle custom banks of stuff in and out. True in many ways but I don't think Clavia have made anything as innovative as Rolands VSynth to be honest.... (I know its not your thing, but thats not really the point I'm making. ) The Electro is one of the instruments that comes close as it recreates sounds that are from other instruments (even if their combined weight would probably be about half a ton!) already, but it doesn't quite float my boat the same way (probably as I have a rhodes and CX3). That being said, for a small company they do make great products.... I agree that the big synth makers aren't what they used to be though...
